Emily McGrath, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist
providing individual treatment for adolescents and adults. She
received her doctorate in 1999 at the University of California, Los
Angeles (UCLA) where she studied child, adolescent, and adult
psychology. As a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA, she specialized in
the treatment of mood disorders, finding ways to reduce symptoms of
depression and anxiety with strategies that are proven to be
effective based on research. Dr. McGrath currently serves as a
Clinical Instructor within UCLA's School of Medicine Department of
Psychiatry.
Specific behavioral and emotional problems
addressed in therapy with Dr. McGrath include (but are not limited
to): anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity, obsessive
compulsive behaviors, eating disorders, marital problems, parenting
and parent-adolescent relationships, adolescent identity
development, young adult issues (including college and career
decisions), relationship stressors (friends, family, work or
romantic), academic challenges (including test and performance
anxiety), peer rejection, sadness and loneliness, crisis management,
coping with stress, and grief counseling following divorce, death,
or other losses.
Throughout treatment, Dr. McGrath focuses
on helping her clients succeed at school, work, and/or home to
achieve their short and long-term goals. She works collaboratively
with her clients, building on strengths, fostering positive personal
and professional relationships, and providing support for parents
and families.
Dr. McGrath's private practice is located in
South Pasadena, California, less than 10 miles from downtown Los
